New iPhone QR code reader application unveiled

Hollrback's New iphone AppThe project call #MysteriosDottie that started last year is now complete. The project by Gabe Kangas was released as an iPhone application and is now in the iPhone App Store. #MysteriosDottie has been named Hollrback.

Hollrback is an iPhone application that lets the user create and exchange business cards via QR code. Exchanging business cards add location tags and event tags to the cards.

Hollrback describes their target market and the focus of their product in their FaceBook page as their focus and knowing context is king. They also go into,” Who you meet is as important as where you meet them…”.

The customer’s business card can be transferred by scanning a QR code that is on the user’s card. The user opens the Hollrback card on the screen and other users can scan the QR code with any QR code reader application including Hollrback. The cards collected by the user can be sorted using the Hollrback website or iPhone App Store.

Users can also customize the content of their cards. For example, separating business contact information like work phone, email, etc. from personal contact information.

Hollrback’s edge in the market is the feature known as the container. This feature lets the user store all contacts’ cards and tracks how many cards the user has collected as well as given out in a specific time and location. This is made possible because events are geo-tagged upon happening.Hollrback's New App

Hollrback is currently under private beta, which means they’re still testing it and there are only a chosen few who have access to it, as of now. Hollrback is an app to watch out for this 2011 so let’s keep our eyes peeled for this apps coming out party.
